Specialty Cars Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Caravan - 2011

Specialty Cars organized a "Caravan" of Porsche enthusiasts and their automobiles to attend the 2011 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. The roadtrip departed Allentown, Pa. and headed to the Frank Lloyd Wright house known as Fallingwater. A tour of the famous house and grounds was a very interesting stop of the driving exursion. The Caravan charted a spectacular photo and driving experience through some very scenic areas of Pennsylvania. The group consisted of 13 Porsche automobiles of varied years and types, two of them were trailored, and 11 were driven. We had a total of 17 people. We could have had our own carshow just by ourselves !! The Caravan left Fallingwater and then proceeded on to Pittsburgh, Pa. for the attendance of the 2011 Pittsburgh Grand Prix and its weekend of events. This was a very important year because Porsche was the "Marque" of the grandprix. All of the participants of the Caravan had their cars on display in the show and concourse events. A great time for all. Mark...

Our navigator, George, had all the documentation necessary for members of the Caravan. Detailed maps and routes were distributed in case we were seperated by traffic.

After a lunch stop at Ed's Steak House for a burger, one of the 911's fell victim to the "no start". We had a few worried faces in the crowd. However, Mark had a plan. Carry extra parts, just in case !!! An ignition coil did not like the heat. (Our webmaster's car)

A quick fix, and we were on our way. Mark, you saved the day !! We are now headed to Fallingwater.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater tour is next on the agenda. Incredible design which was so far ahead of it's time.
